What Content Management System (CMS) do you use?

We use a custom build of WordPress for all our websites, due to it’s flexibility, scalability and ease of content management. Having a CMS power your website will allow you to edit the content of your website (for example: pages, posts, contact details etc.) and you can build it out to meet your specific requirements.

Do you offer SEO services? Will my website appear on Google?

We don’t offer a separate SEO service, it is inherent in our website design standards. Our websites are Search Engine-friendly and all the sites we host appear in Google rankings. We use an SEO framework to allow you control your search engine optimization and take control of your content and how it is displayed on Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.

Can you host our new website once it’s finished?

We offer hosting as part of our WordPress Hosting service. Our websites are hosted in a central Irish data centre with a backup data centre elsewhere in Ireland. We maintain our servers and administer the operating environment of our websites. Backups are taken overnight by our hosting provider, but we also run our own backups intra-day on to a separate machine, which is then replicated to Amazon S3. All this communication is done over a secure encrypted connection by JamJo.

Can I use a different hosting provider?

Of course you can. However we would suggest hosting your website with us. Our websites are customized to run smoothly in our hosting environment. View our WordPress Hosting plans and pricing here.

Can I cancel my chosen WordPress Hosting plan?

Absolutely and at any time. We know it hurts to leave but understand your decision. You can cancel your chosen WordPress Hosting plan at anytime. If, for whatever reason, you feel like sending us a parting email, or letting us know where we failed you, get in touch. We’re all ears for feedback to improve our customer experience.

Can I install my own WordPress plugins?

Yes of course but, we may not be able to support it. We have a vetted list of plugins we know and trust and can help you with. We have a list of plugins we recommend and of course we have our list of blacklisted plugins. JamJo is always exploring the world of WordPress, searching for and testing new plugins, so we have a good idea of what works what doesn’t.

The majority of plugins will work on our infrastructure however their are some exceptions that typically tend to collide with our own service that we provide so you tend not to even need them in the first place. For example backup plugins, caching plugins, server & MySQL plugins – these are functions we tend to look after in the background.

We want all our clients to be in safe hands, we want to make sure that any plugin being uploaded whether for test purposes or for full on use is a safe one and is fully compatible with the latest WordPress releases and updates.

Some plugins may not necessarily cause a security risk immediately but over time because they are not well maintained and updated your site eventually can be exposed, also some plugins tend to just slow everything down as they are not made to the highest standard. This is what you are paying JamJo for after all to make sure you have WordPress experts on hand to help out and make sure everything is working correctly.

When we discover a plugin that has a vulnerability, we first take immediate steps to remove it from all JamJo servers. Once we’ve established that our customers are secure, then we reach out privately to the plugin developers with recommendations on how to patch. In all cases, when asked, we try to provide reasonable alternatives and workarounds because 99 times out of 100 there is always another way to get the job done.

Can I install my own WordPress custom theme?

Yes of course, but we might not be able to provide support for the theme itself. We will of course always support the WordPress core and all the plugin updates each month but your theme may need to be supported by the original theme creator or developer.

What Browsers & Operating Systems are Supported?

We test all our designs on Internet Explorer 8 and 9 and the latest versions of Firefox, Safari and Chrome. Regarding operating systems, our designs are independent of the operating system you use and will work as long as WordPress is installed correctly. We do not support Internet Explorer 6. If you use Internet Explorer 6, please consider upgrading to the latest Internet Explorer to have the best experience with your website. Or simply do what we do and use a different browser 😉
