Answers to the most commonly asked questions
What is JamJo?
JamJo is a website design agency based in Inniscarra, Co. Cork, Ireland, offering managed website solutions.
What is a managed website solution?
A managed website solution involves the design, build, hosting and ongoing support & maintenance of a website.
What kind of websites do JamJo make?
Head on over to our Portfolio to see websites we have designed and built for our clients. Our portfolio is a very good indication of the type of design style we typically do. If our samples are not to your liking, we recommend seeking out website designers to suit your tastes.
How much is a website?
The price of a web project can vary hugely depending on the complexity of the site. Fill out our Get a Quote form and we will get back to you asap. By providing your budget we can work out how much time we can allocate to the project and advise on how best to spend that time to achieve your objectives.
How much is the hosting, support and maintenance?
We offer a range of optional monthly hosting, support and maintenance plans. See our plans here.
What Content Management System (CMS) do you use?
We use a custom build of WordPress for all our websites, due to it’s flexibility, scalability and ease of content management (see features here). Having a CMS power your website will allow you to edit the content of your websites (for example: pages, contact details) and you can build it out to meet your specific requirements.
Do you offer SEO services? Will my website appear on Google?
We don’t offer a separate SEO service, it is inherent in our website design standards. Our websites are Search Engine-friendly and all the sites we host appear in Google rankings. We use an SEO framework to allow you control your search engine optimization and take control of your content and how it is displayed on Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.
Can you host our new website once it’s finished?
We offer hosting as part of our managed website solution. Our websites are hosted in a central Irish data centre with a backup data centre elsewhere in the UK. We maintain our servers and administer the operating environment of our websites. Backups are taken overnight by our hosting provider, but we also run our own backups intra-day on to a separate machine, which is then replicated to Amazon S3. All this communication is done over a secure encrypted connection by JamJo.
Can you set up the new website to run on our own servers when it’s finished?
Of course we can. However we would suggest hosting your website with us. Our websites are customized to run smoothly in our hosting environment.
Can I cancel my chosen hosting, support and maintenance plan?
Absolutely and at any time. We know it hurts to leave but understand your decision. You can cancel your chosen JamJo plan at anytime. If for whatever reason you feel like sending us a parting email, or letting us know where we failed you, get in touch. We’re all ears for feedback to improve our customer experience.
Can I install my own WordPress plugins?
Yes of course but, we may not be able to support it. We have a vetted list of plugins we know and trust and can help you with. We have a list of plugins we recommend and of course we have our list of blacklisted plugins. The reason for this is because we are always out on the web, searching for and testing new plugins, so we have a good idea of what works really well and what doesn’t.
Can I install my own WordPress custom theme?
Yes of course, but we might not be able to support this theme itself. We will of course always support the WordPress core and all the plugin updates each month but your theme may need to be supported by the original theme creator or developer.
What Browsers & Operating Systems are Supported?
We test all our designs on Internet Explorer 8 and 9, the latest versions of Firefox, Safari. and Chrome. Regarding operating systems, our designs are independent of the operating system you use and will work as long as WordPress is installed correctly. We do not support Internet Explorer 6. If you use Internet Explorer 6, please consider upgrading to the latest Internet Explorer to have the best experience with your website. Or simply do what we do and use a different browser
